Real Madrid – La Liga: Rodrygo on Liverpool and Barcelona: Real Madrid want to play well and win

It has been almost a month since Rodrygo returned from the serious muscular injury which threatened to derail his season, however ahead of the most important stretch of Real Madrid‘s season, the Brazilian has made clear the team just want to play well and win, irrespective of the importance of these games.

This comes ahead of a brutal fortnight of fixtures in which Los Blancos face Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-final and Barcelona in the second LaLiga Santander Clasico of the season.

“These matches give us a different feeling, but we want to play well and win,” Rodrygo explained to Real Madrid TV.

“Every match is important, although these are a little more important. These matches are the most special.”

Real Madrid have stunned pundits and neutrals by their ability to keep in touch with the domestic title race, despite being far behind Atletico Madrid earlier in the campaign.

They are now involved in the race for the league championship, and Rodrygo has assured fans that they will give everything to retain their trophy.

“Everyone is seeing that we don’t give up,” Rodrygo added.

“We will fight to the end, no matter how many points we need. We will always fight to the last moment.”

It had been wondered whether Zinedine Zidane would ever fully trust Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr from a tactical perspective, but the Brazilian is clear on what his coach is asking of him at the moment.

“He asks us to be organised and to press high up the pitch,” Rodrygo continued.

“It’s better to press forward because you’re already close to the goal if we win the ball back.

“You have to be attentive to the defenders and your full-backs need to always be close to the opponents goal.”
