Real Madrid – La Liga: Carvajal takes a big step towards comeback

Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal took a major step towards a return to action on Friday, as he began training on grass again.

The Spain international has been struggling since mid-January with a muscular problem, but on Friday was able to take part in some light training, along with Alvaro Odriozola and Mariano Diaz.

With his latest spell on the sidelines dating back to February 14 after he suffered a setback on his return to action against Valencia, Carvajal will now be aiming to be available for selection again after the international break.

The idea is that the 29-year-old will be fully reintegrated into training next week and then be ready to play a part in the big games coming up.

After the international break, Los Blancos face Eibar, Liverpool, Barcelona and then Liverpool again in the space of less than two weeks.

Zinedine Zidane is also paying close attention to the progress of Toni Kroos and Fede Valverde, who have been receiving treatment at Real Madrid’s training ground and did not take any part in the team’s training session on Friday.

The Real Madrid players not away with their national teams will now have the weekend off before getting back to work on Monday.
