Carlo Ancelotti has suffered yet more negative news in pre-season at Real Madrid, with Toni Kroos set to miss a month after suffering another groin injury.
After suffering multiple groin issues in the 2020/21 season, Kroos will now immediately turn his focus to recovery, although it’s hard to imagine he will be fit enough to play against Alaves on August 14 in what will be Los Blancos’ LaLiga Santander opener.
“After the tests carried out on our player Toni Kroos, he has been diagnosed with pubalgia and is pending evaluation,” a statement read.
Kroos‘ injury comes as a particular personal blow, with the midfielder having just retired from international football in order to focus on his club career with Real Madrid.
On the positive side for Ancelotti, David Alaba returned to training on Tuesday morning after recovering from COVID-19. The Austrian defender will be ready for the start of the LaLiga season on the aforementioned date.
