Kroos forced to self-isolate after close contact with a positive COVID-19 case

Real Madrid have been dealt a further setback in their pursuit of the LaLiga Santander title, with Toni Kroos being forced to self-isolate after coming into close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

All the subsequent tests that have been carried out on the player have come back negative, which is a good thing for Los Blancos, but he will likely miss the clash with Athletic Club this Sunday.

Real Madrid report that our player Toni Kroos is currently in isolation after being in contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, although all tests carried out on the player have come back negative,” a club statement read.

Zinedine Zidane hopes that Kroos will be back soon, although his mind will turn back to a similar situation involving Fede Valverde from earlier in the season, when the Uruguayan tested positive himself five days after being in contact with a COVID-19 case.

In addition to Kroos, Sergio Ramos also missed training on Friday morning and will not play against Athletic.
