Carlo Ancelotti got his second spell at Real Madrid underway on Monday, with players having their medical examinations in the morning before training at Valdebebas in the afternoon.

Several players have returned from loan spells such as Martin Odegaard and Luka Jovic, with a number of others still on international duty between Euro 2020, the Copa America and the Olympic Games.

In fact, Ancelotti will only be able to work with 13 of the 29 players in the Real Madrid first team squad during the next few days.

David Alaba, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema, Raphael Varane, Toni Kroos, Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard are all on holiday after being knocked out of Euro 2020. Four – Fede Valverde, Vinicius Jr, Eder Militao and Casemiro – are still at the Copa America, and four others – Take Kubo, Dani Ceballos, Marco Asensio and Jesus Vallejo – are going to the Tokyo Games.
