FT: MAN UTD 2-1 BRIGHTON
Manchester United beat Brighton at Old Trafford thanks to a late winner by Mason Greenwood.
The Seagulls opened the scoring after only 13 minutes with former United star Danny Welbeck, who picked up a cross by Neal Maupay and got a header that was saved by Dean Henderson but the ball bounced back off the striker to go behind the hosts’ net.
Following a poor first half, the Red Devils picked up the pace and got an equaliser on 62 minutes when Bruno Fernandes’ brilliant run led to a pass to Marcus Rashford who beat Robert Sanchez with a fine right-footed shot.
Brighton protested for a penalty soon after when Welbeck appeared to have been floored by United captain Harry Maguire but VAR replays show the centre-back may have just eased the former England international off the ball.
The hosts got their winner just seven minutes before full-time when Fernandes’ cross from the left flank found Paul Pogba inside the box and his awkward volley led to a diving header by Greenwood that sent the ball to the back of Sanchez’s net
