Footballer dies during memorial match for his brother

The sporting world is in mourning after the tragic death of 29-year-old footballer Giuseppe Perrino during a memorial match for his late brother in Italy.

Perrino suffered a cardiac arrest during the match, which was being played in Poggiomarino, near Naples, before passing away.

The match was being played to remember his brother, who died in a bike accident in June 2018, and Perrino‘s ex-club Parma offered their condolences to his family.

“The thoughts of everyone at Parma Calcio 1913 go out to the Perrino family, following the loss of Giuseppe,” the club wrote on Twitter.

It is not the first occasion in recent times that a footballer has died after suffering a heart attack on the field of play.
