Pep Guardiola says managing in England ‘nicer’ than Spain
Pep Guardiola will shake hands with Brighton boss Graham Potter – after claiming there is no problem between them.
Guardiola was angry with Potter for the way the Seagulls boss celebrated when his side came from 2-0 down to beat City 3-2 at the Amex Stadium last season.
There were angry scenes at the final whistle as Guardiola made his feelings known to Potter, who apologised for his reaction to his side’s stunning comeback.
Potter again apologised to Guardiola ahead of Saturday’s meeting between the two sides, saying he hopes he can get a “cuddle” from the City boss to draw a line under the episode.
Guardiola said there was no issue from his side and added: “We’ll shake hands before and after the game, like I do with all the managers before and after the game.”
The City boss opened up on the abuse managers receive, in the wake of Steve Bruce’s claim he may retire because of the vitriol aimed at him.
After leaving Newcastle, Bruce said he may never return to management, with Guardiola saying he never sees abuse directed towards him, because he does not do social media.
“I don’t have social media,” said Guardiola. “No Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and BBC Iplayer. I have these.

“I don’t have time. I have my family, friends and my job, so it’s more time for myself. I know when I win, the people treat me nicely, and when I don’t win, it’s not so nice.
“For me, Steve Bruce is an exceptional gentleman. He always took care of me so nicely when I came here from Catalonia.
“I wish him all the best and I would tell him ‘don’t pay attention to all the comments, as it is bulls***’.
“Sometimes the managers are treated worse than the worst, but sometimes it’s a reflection of society. On social media, everyone accepts that people say terrible things.
“Steve Bruce and all the managers want to do all the best. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but no-one deserves to be treated like that.
“But he doesn’t have to be worried, because the people who know him quite well, that’s what’s important.
“I wish him to come back soon and I’m pretty sure he will be back with an opportunity, because he has the love for football in his blood.”
