HT: MAN UTD 0-1 BRIGHTON
Brighton lead at Old Trafford thanks to a disciplined first-half display by Graham Potter’s men.
United have been quite predictable throughout most of the match but came close to an opener in the first few minutes with a powerful shot by Mason Greenwood which rattled Robert Sanchez’s bar.
But the Seagulls broke the deadlock after only 13 minutes when former Red Devils star Danny Welbeck picked up a header from a cross by Neal Maupay down the right flank.
The effort by Welbeck, who was unmarked, was saved by Dean Henderson but the ball bounced off the Brighton star and then ended up in the back of the hosts’ net.
Brighton came close to a second soon after when captain Lewis Dunk got a header from a free-kick by Pascal Gross and forced a finger-tip save from Henderson
