LaLiga: Diakhaby responds with laughter as Tebas suggests he “misunderstood” Cala

Mouctar Diakhaby and Valencia learned on Friday that LaLiga’s investigation into the incident of alleged racism involving the Los Che defender and Juan Cala returned no evidence.

The Cadiz player was accused of having made racist remarks towards Diakhaby during their game last weekend, though lip-reading experts and audio files examined were unable to produce evidence necessary for action against Cala.

Sources close to Valencia have said that Diakhaby has taken the news calmly, though he remains convinced of his version of events, and remains grateful for the support shown for him by the club and his teammates.

He did, though, share some thoughts on social media on Friday afternoon. Posting a screenshot to Instagram of a headline in which Javier Tebas was reported as having said that “Diakhaby must have misunderstood Cala”, the Valencia player shared laughing emojis, questioning the LaLiga president.

“I trust what he says, but he must have misunderstand, as happens so often in life,” Tebas had said to Deportes Cuatro.

“My opinion is that Diakhaby hasn’t made false accusations, but that he misheard Cala.”
