Brendan Rodgers’ furious message to Leicester stars who ‘hid in the dark’ to avoid cops

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers was forced to intervene and message his players when he discovered members of his squad had attended an illegal house party, it has been claimed.

James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Hamza Choudhury are said to have attended a gathering at team-mate Ayoze Perez’s house, along with up to 18 people, in flagrant disregard of current Covid-19 restrictions.

It has been claimed that the stars turned all the lights out at Perez’s £1.3million house and hid in the dark before police turned up.

However, Rodgers beat the cops to it, as he sent the group of players a text to tell them to end the party immediately.

The Sun, citing a source, claims the players all found out at once that the head coach had got wind of their celebrations.

The source said: “Everyone was having a good time then suddenly the players said to each other ‘Look at your phone’.

“They’d got a message from Brendan. He told them he knew what they were up to and to stop the party immediately.

“They told everyone to hide and switched off all the lights so it looked like no one was home.”

All players involved were dropped for Sunday’s game against West Ham, which the Foxes lost 3-1 in a blow to their chances of a top-four finish.

Guests had apparently been instructed to put their phones in sealable pouches so no images or videos were captured.

Following the message from Rodgers, some of the group kept the party going by travelling 30 miles to Choudhury’s house in Nottingham at 1am.

The players involved were hauled into a meeting last Tuesday, and three were dropped for the West Ham game – Barnes was not involved due to injury.

Leicester said in a statement: “Those involved have apologised for their poor judgment. Our response to the matter will be concluded internally.”
