Real Madrid working on Rodrygo’s renewal and development

Real Madrid have begun the process of renewing and enhancing Rodrygo Goes‘ contract.

The Brazilian forward has proved to the club this season that he can be a star player in the future and they will now set about keeping him for the seasons to come.

The discourse around Los Blancos and their attacking department has revolved around Kylian Mbappe and his, until recently, expected arrival at the club.

In the background though, Rodrygo has become a decisive player in the final part of the season and the La Liga Santander champions will act on that despite the 21-year-old having three years left on his current deal.

Three more years

The striker signed for Real Madrid in 2019, committing himself for six seasons, but Real Madrid believe that the time has come to recognise the merits of the Brazilian and increase the length of the contract.

A factor in Real Madrid‘s admiration of the player is that he seems to be able to find a new level when playing in the Champions League.

He has actually scored 10 goals in the Champions League this season whereas he has only managed seven in the domestic league.

Ancelotti believes Rodrygo can still show his best side and become a world-class player. Once he has managed to make a leap physically, the footballing aspect of his game is already at a very high level.

Rodrygo‘s early time at Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane was hampered by a serious knee injury.
