Having booked their place in the Champions League last 16 in midweek, Real Madrid host Sevilla in LaLiga looking to extend their recent run of wins.
Madrid made it five on the bounce when they strolled to a 3-0 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol on Wednesday, a result that gave them some measure of revenge for their shock home defeat to the Moldovans in September. They’ll win Group D with a draw against Inter Milan on 7 December.
On Sunday, the LaLiga leaders face a Sevilla side who also won in the Champions League this week, beating VfL Wolfsburg 2-0 to stay in the hunt for a place in the knockout stages. The Andalusians will qualify from Group F if they beat RB Salzburg on 8 December.
Coached by former Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui, Sevilla sit third in the Spanish top flight, two points behind Los Blancos – but will need to end a barren run at the Bernabéu if they are to leapfrog their hosts in the table.
Since a 4-3 win away to Madrid in December 2008, Sevilla have drawn one and lost 11 of their 12 visits to the ground in LaLiga.
