Fans to return to new Bernabéu

“The estimated plans for the start of next season, 2021-22, considers the possibility of having supporters in the stands, in accordance with the ratios and restrictions established by the health authorities,” the letter issued to club members explains.

For the moment, the club has informed its season ticket holders by e-mail that it has decided not to issue their new ticket for the 2021-22 season, which was due to be paid on 30 June. The club has justified its decision on the grounds that “in the current circumstances, it is almost certain that not all of our season ticket holders will be able to attend every match.”

In the letter, the club also states that in the next few days it will communicate “more information about the procedure that the club will establish for the application of tickets for next season’s matches.”

The return of the fans to the Bernabéu will not take place, in principle, until the second weekend of September. The club has asked LaLiga to plan Los Blancos’ first three matches to be played away from home. This has a common request in recent years among clubs that have been renovating their stadiums and is expected to be agreed with.

The fixture schedule for the Spanish top flight will be made in the coming weeks and due to a planned international break following the dates for the opening three games, the fourth match is likely to be played on the weekend of 11 September, with the Champions League beginning the following midweek. What a time to move back from the Alfredo di Stefano to the famous Santiago Bernabéu. And could that be another draw for new summer signings under Carlo Ancelotti?
