If I were Ramos, I would stay at Real Madrid for ten more years even earning less

Actualizado

Former Real Madrid midfielder Michel believes that Sergio Ramos should stay at Los Blancos for many years to come, even if this means that his salary would drop each season.

The 34-year-old centre-back’s current deal with Real Madrid runs until June and the two parties have yet to reach an agreement over a potential renewal.

“I think that Real Madrid have valued [Ramos],” Michel told Radio MARCA.

“I speak for myself and, even if he could earn more money elsewhere, playing for Real Madrid can’t be compared [to playing elsewhere].

“If I were Ramos, I would spend ten more years at the club, earning a little less. We are going to be able to take the children to private schools anyway.

“Also, when those couples break up, the two parties miss each other a lot. Ramos has the agreement in his hand and [only thing that’s left] is to say yes.

“You could leave Real Madrid, but life abroad is not so easy.”

Michel went on to claim that Atletico Madrid are the frontrunners to win LaLiga Santander this season, although both Barcelona and Real Madrid can compete until the end of the campaign.

Atletico Madrid are deservedly leaders,” Michel added. “A league cannot be won in a month and that’s being proven.

Barcelona, with the resources they have, are keeping themselves there and Real Madrid always compete.

“The favourites are always those who are top [of the league].”
