Real Madrid – La Liga: Disciplinary board ignore Real Madrid’s complaint and Modric’s yellow card stands

The Spanish Football Foderation (RFEF)‘s disciplinary board will not overturn Luka Modric‘s yellow card against Celta Vigo.

Real Madrid had sent a video to the board which they believed proved his innocence and that he was simply playing a pass to Lucas Vazquez.

However, the board maintain that as there was contact they cannot repeal the card given out by referee Mario Melero Lopez.

“First: [Real Madrid] claim in their complaint that there was an error in the refereeing decision,” begins a statement from the disciplinary board.

“…as the images [sent by Real Madrid] clearly show contact between the booked player and the opposing player, this committee cannot consider the referee’s decision to be mistaken.
