Jose Antonio Camacho is an expert on Real Madrid and Spain, having played for and coached both teams, and he has had his say on the latest developments with the club and the national team.
The topic of Sergio Ramos‘ contract situation was brought up and the 65-year-old would like to see Los Blancos sign the centre-back to a new deal.
“Sergio Ramos is one of those players who was born to win everything,” Camacho said on Radio MARCA.
“I’d like him to keep wearing the Real Madrid shirt.
“I would make an effort for him. All Real Madrid fans would like him to stay.”
Camacho spoke during his radio appearance about his work to help players through the players’ union AFE, while he also discussed the Spanish national team and their shaky start to World Cup qualifying.
“The important thing is always to make sure you qualify, something that is tough for all teams,” he said.
“I think Spain will easily win in Greece and will then play in a different way when they meet Georgia again.
“I think Spain can win the European Championship this summer. If they play like they did in the match against Germany, then I’d be hopeful.”
