Real Madrid – La Liga: Benzema after trial date is set: This charade will finally be over

It has been announced this Tuesday that Karim Benzema‘s trial for his alleged complicity in the attempted blackmail of Mathieu Valbuena will take place from October 20 to 22.

The player has reacted to this news and is positive, keen to clear his name.

He shared a screenshot of the news on his Instagram stories along with the caption “finally, let’s go, the charade is finally ending forever”.

What is the Valbuena blackmail case?

This case stems back to 2015, when Benzema allegedly spoke to Valbuena about a sex tape blackmail attempt, after being asked to do so by one of the intermediaries.

“I think it’s a big misunderstanding,” Benzema said at the time, claiming he was trying to help his international teammate.

“At first, I just wanted Mathieu to be aware of the issue and help him because they’d done something to me in the same way. He is someone who I played with for France and is a friend.”

This saga also meant the end of Benzema‘s international career, as he hasn’t been called up for Les Bleus since then.
