Anthony Martial is willing to take a wage drop in order to end his Manchester United nightmare, according to reports.

The Frenchman has been pushing for an Old Trafford exit all month, after his agent made it clear he was looking to leave the club.

Martial, who still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his United deal, made his first appearance under Ralf Rangnick at the weekend, having recovered from an injury.

That came after the interim boss accused the forward of refusing to be selected for the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.

But with the score locked at 0-0 against West Ham, Rangnick turned to the 26-year-old, who helped create Marcus Rashford’s late winner.

However, that could prove to be his final action of the season for United, with Sevilla reportedly closing in on a deal to take him on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

And reports from Spain claim that Martial is willing to take a wage cut in order to get the move over the line, with his salary previously a stumbling block for the La Liga title chasers.

Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto suggested on Monday that a move to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium was all-but complete with Martial accepting the drop in money.

Sevilla find themselves in the thick of the title race in Spain, trailing leaders Real Madrid by just four points after 22 games.

However, Julen Lopetegui’s side have struggled for goals, finding the net just 34 times in comparison to Madrid’s 47 and third-placed Real Betis’ 41.

Martial’s best goalscoring season came back in 2019/20 when under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he found the net 23 times in all competitions.

But he failed to back that up last term, scoring just four and has just one so far this time around with injuries limiting his opportunities.

Rangnick opened up on talks he had held with the wantaway striker, revealing the message he sent to him ahead of his cameo vs West Ham.

“Since we last spoke one-and-a-half weeks ago, I told him it’s about being professional until the very last day no matter how long he stays or when he leaves,” Rangnick said. “It was good to have this conversation with him.

“In the last two games, he was part of the squad and today he played a vital role in the goal that we scored.

“He’s a top player, one of the best strikers in the Premier League but we have other players in his position and it is his wish to leave but, as I said to him, it always takes different parts to find an agreement and the way he trained and played when he came on today showed his professionalism I expect from everybody.

“I am happy he was playing today, that came on and had a vital role in the goal.”
