Mallorca close in on Kubo

Actualizado

Real Madrid are looking to trim down their squad this summer ahead of the new season, and one player who is attracting some potential suitors is Take Kubo.

The Japanese star has attracted interested from clubs around Europe as well as LaLiga Santander after an impressive Olympic Games with his national side.

Mallorca and Real Sociedad are keen on the midfielder, with the former being favourites to land his signature. Kubo enjoyed a successful loan period at the club in the 2019/20 season, making 35 appearances and scoring four times.

Real Madrid would prefer to send him to Real Sociedad, particularly after Martin Odegaard‘s spell in the Basque Country, and see it as a good opportunity to develop as he would have the chance of playing Europa League football next season.

Finances will also play a role and may hold Mallorca back from a potential deal.

Carlo Ancelotti needs to free up wages at Real Madrid, with players such as Dani Ceballos, Odegaard and Isco all possibly being moved on during this transfer window.
