Calabria admits he still feels ‘discomfort’ but assures: “I’m recovering well”

Milan faced Valencia in their fourth friendly game last night and although they eventually lost on penalties, the performance was encouraging. Once again, we got to see Davide Calabria back on the pitch.

The right-back underwent surgery at the end of this past season and has only just returned to training with the squad. Therefore, it has been nice to see him in action so quickly, especially since he has looked decent as well.

The Rossoneri played well last night and created many chances to score, but lacked the final touch. The same theme continued in the penalty shoot-out as Rade Krunic missed the goal with his penalty.

In an interview with MilanTV after the game, as you can see in the video below, Calabria spoke about the clash and Milan’s current status. He made it clear that they have done well despite being behind the opponents.

“I’m happy to finally be back, I’ve only been with the group for eight days so I’m still building up my condition and getting used to the movements on the pitch.

“I was out for a while due to a delicate procedure and occasionally, I still feel some discomfort but I’m recovering well. Now we have another two important games, friendlies but against big teams like Real Madrid.

“We need to build our fitness and our group cohesion, we’re on the right path. They are ahead of us, Nice two weeks and Valencia one week. And in this period, 7 or 14 days does make a lot of difference. I think we’re well physically set,” he stated.
