Alaba suffers injury setback | Marca

David Alaba has suffered an injury setback in his recovery from a muscle problem that prevented him from participating in Real Madrid’s Supercopa de Espana games in Saudi Arabia.

The Austria international returned to training with the rest of his teammates earlier this week, but he picked up another knock ahead of the Copa del Rey derby against Atletico Madrid that took place on Thursday at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid also lost Ferland Mendy to injury, as the Frenchman limped off the pitch due to a muscle knock in the back of his right thigh before the break in their 2-1 comeback win over Los Rojiblancos.

MARCA has learned that this setback will delay his return to action, as Alaba worked with the ball, but didn’t train with the team on Friday.

Alaba has missed Real Madrid‘s last five games through injury. This has not happened since his arrival at Los Blancos.
