Man Utd’s £80m Harry Kane contract ‘offer’ and how it compares to big-name stars

Manchester United are set to shatter their wage structure in a bid to try and sign Harry Kane from Tottenham, reports suggest.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to pursue the England captain this summer, despite facing the likelihood of having to fork out £130million for the 27-year-old.

Kane still has two years to run on his current contract in N17, and it is unlikely Spurs will want to let him go.

But regardless, both Manchester clubs are said to have approached the forward with a preliminary contract offer worth £80million.

If the deal were to go through, and if the rumours of an £80m contract were true, Kane still wouldn’t be the highest-earning player at United.

United have been known to break the bank on player wages in recent years, with David de Gea currently the club’s top earner.

The Spanish goalkeeper rakes in a whopping £375,000 per-week, but could be on his way out of the club this summer.

De Gea has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer and could be allowed to leave in order to solidify Dean Henderson’s status as first-choice.

Paul Pogba, another player linked with a move away from Old Trafford, is next up on the list.

The French midfielder earns £290,000 per-week, but will be out of contract in just a year’s time.

And due to the length of his current deal, Pogba has been tipped to leave next year.

Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani are tied third on the list, with both earning £250,000 per-week.

Cavani recently signed a new contract at Old Trafford, and will now remain at the club until 2022.

It has been suggested that United could wait until 2022 before moving to sign Kane due to Cavani’s contract.
