Forget Harry Kane, Edinson Cavani looks like a striker reborn and is lifting the mood at Old Trafford

HARRY KANE might want to leave Tottenham this summer, with Manchester United one of three teams in his sights.

But the Red Devils won’t need to part with the £150million Daniel Levy wants because Edinson Cavani looks like a star striker reborn.

But the fire in Cavani’s belly has been well and truly lit after he was convinced to sign a new deal.

The veteran scored a goal of the season contender in Tuesday’s win against Fulham for his 16th strike this term.

And it was a brilliant way for Cavani to endear himself to the United faithful.

Indeed, tonight was the first time he had played in front of Red Devils fans.

And his incredible strike lit up smiles on the faces of those who less than a week ago had taken part in anti-Glazer protests.

With just one magic flick of his foot, the atmosphere inside Old Trafford changed.

And Cavani is sure to have put a smile on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s face too, with his new pay rise just pennies compared to what Kane may fetch this summer.

Cavani also looks like one of those players with a warrior’s heart, able to unite those around him to the same cause.

With a full pre-season under his belt for the next campaign, Cavani could finally be the man United have searched for in their quest to win a first title since 2013.
