Edinson Cavani given two shirt number choices as he prepares for Man Utd exit

Boca Juniors are still looking to tempt Edinson Cavani away from Manchester United and have offered him the choice of two prestigious shirt numbers.

The Uruguayan currently dons the famous No 7 jersey at Old Trafford.

The Argentine club are prepared to offer him the same number or let him wear the No 9 should he prefer.

Cavani’s future at United is still very much uncertain ahead of the summer amid suggestions the forward wants to leave.

The Uruguayan hasn’t yet been in Manchester for a year following his summer switch from PSG.

But his father claimed he was unhappy and favoured a return to South America, where Boca Juniors are waiting.

“My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again,” said Luis Cavani.

“Edinson had many conversations with [Juan Roman] Riquelme and he would like to play for Boca.

“He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca. If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca.

“By the middle of the year he will return to South America. My son’s idea is not to continue there. He wants to return.”

Olé claim Boca Juniors are growing increasingly confident that Cavani will join them in the summer.

The 34-year-old has begun watching the Argentine club closely, according to reports, as he attempts to understand their style and his potential team-mates.

He also remains in regular contact with former United man Marcos Rojo, who is currently playing for Boca Juniors.

Cavani is also thought to be motivated by the prospect of winning the Copa Libertadores, South America’s top club prize, having never had the chance previously.

Last week the forward held discussions with United’s football director, John Murtough, and Ed Woodward were he vowed to decide on his future by the end of April.
