Barcelona: Vice-president Yuste reveals Barcelona are in contact with Messi’s camp about a return

There have been more and more reports this past week regarding a potential Lionel Messi return to Barcelona, and vice-president Rafa Yuste has admitted that the two parties are keeping in touch.

He spoke about his disappointment at the fact that Messi had to leave in 2021, but is hopeful that the Argentine can finish his career at the Camp Nou.

“He and his family know how much we appreciate them,” Yuste stated at a press conference for the presentation of the Barcelona Academy World Cup.

“I took part in the negotiations which, unfortunately, didn’t end the way we wanted. It frustrates me that he couldn’t stay.

“I would love for him to return because of what he could represent, not only on a sporting level.

“These kinds of nice stories deserve happy endings.

“We are in contact with them.

“When you are in love and you break up with someone, you always want to stay in love. Even if you lose contact.

“We will always be in love with him and he will always be in love with Barcelona and the city.”

In any case, Yuste didn’t want to speak too much about Messi and pointed out that he is currently a PSG player.

Yuste on the Bori Fati controversy

Another topic that was brought up was the controversy generated by the words of Ansu Fati‘s father, Bori Fati, who gave an interview on Tuesday night in which he criticised the lack of minutes for his son.

He even revealed that he’d like Ansu Fati to consider leaving the Camp Nou in search of more game time.

“I have two sons and sometimes, as a father, you get carried away by emotion,” Yuste said.

Bori only wants the best for his son and nothing else. Ansu Fati has a really strong desire to succeed here.”
