The England captain revealed he will return to Spurs’ pre-season preparations this weekend, as was originally planned.

Kane has been the subject of intense speculation since it emerged that he could look to leave his boyhood club during the summer window.

Things came to a head earlier this week when it was suggested Kane didn’t return to training on the date agreed following his post-Euro 202 break.

However, he has now looked to clarify the situation with a statement on his Instagram account which reads: “It’s almost ten years since I made my Spurs debut. For every one of those years, you – the fans – have shown me total support and love.

“That’s why it hurts to read some of the comments that have been made this week, questioning my professionalism.

“While I won’t go into the specifics of the situation, I want to clarify that I would never, and have never, refused to train. I will be returning to the club tomorrow, as planned.

“I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardise the relationship I have with the fans who have given me such unwavering support during my time with the club.

“This has always been the case as it is today.”

Manchester City are the club believed to be most actively chasing the 28-year-old, who still has three years remaining on his current contract.

Reports have speculated that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is adamant he will not sell the striker and is willing to slap a huge price-tag on him to deter any potential suitors.

On Friday, City boss Pep Guardiola publicly admitted for the first time that he would be very keen to sign the Premier League’s reigning Golden Boot winner.

Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo plans to hold talks with the striker when he returns to training

He said: “He is a player for Tottenham Hotspur and if Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, it is finished.

“I think Man City and many clubs in the world want to try to sign him, we are not an exception, but it depends on Tottenham.

“It is different to Jack [Grealish]. He had the release [clause] and Jack is different. Harry is exceptional and we are interested in him but if Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, nothing more to say.”

Earlier this week, new Spurs head coach Nuno Espirito Santo said he was yet to speak to Kane about his future, but it would be a matter dealt with internally.

“I expect to speak with Harry soon. I haven’t had the chance yet. We have to first of all solve the problems ourselves, then I will speak to you,” Nuno explained.

“It’s not that I don’t want to comment, what I believe is all this issue in relation to everything should be discussed internally, among us. Let’s try to avoid any kind of public argument or discussion about it. We have to focus on what is important, solve the situation, between us.”
