Paris Saint-Germain have stopped selling Kylian Mbappe shirts on their French website as he closes in on a move to Real Madrid.

The French superstar has been heavily linked with a transfer to the Bernabeu this summer with his PSG contract set to expire. It’s reported that he will snub an extension from the French side in favour of a switch to Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.

PSG have gone to extreme lengths to persuade Mbappe to stay with them over the course of the season tabling multiple contract offers, but the winger has been insistent on testing free agency. It seems they have now finally admitted defeat that he is heading for the exit door after Mbappe claimed he has ‘almost made his decision’ with an announcement expected this week.

The Ligue 1 club have removed the option for supporters to buy kits with Mbappe’s name on the back on their official French site.

As the image below shows, the numbers are listed from ‘Six – Marco Verratti’ to ‘Eight- Leandro Paredes’ and skip out ‘Seven – Mbappe’. Although, as things stand, a shirt with the Frenchman’s name on the back can still be purchased on the UK website.

Mbappe said on Sunday night at the UNFP awards ceremony, where he picked up his third consecutive Ligue 1 Player of the Year award, that his future would be decided in a “matter of days.”

He said: “I will officially announce my decision on the future before I join the France national team in June. It’s a matter of days then it will be official.” He added: “It will be known very soon, it’s almost done. My decision is made, yes, almost.”

Mbappe has also been linked with Liverpool but it’s unlikely the Anfield club would tamper with their wage structure to accommodate Mbappe’s hefty salary.

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the Reds are interested in the forward, like most clubs would be when a player of his calibre is available on a free contract, but they are not prepared to get into a battle with the likes of Madrid.

Speaking before Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Southampton on Tuesday, Klopp said: “Of course, we’re interested in Kylian. We’re not blind. I have nothing to say about (the reported contact). Between Kylian and Liverpool… it’s all fine. We, of course, like him, if you don’t like him, then you have to question yourself.”

It’s Mbappe boyhood dream to play for Madrid but he has not hidden his appreciation for Liverpool and Klopp for what they’ve achieved in the last five years or so.

He said back in 2020: “This season, Liverpool have been a machine in the Premier League. They have made winning look easy but the truth is that it is never easy. Performances like they have been having don’t just happen. To be as ruthless as they have been would come from lots of hard work in training and from having a very good manager.”
