Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Andreas Pereira could still have a future at Manchester United as he continues to monitor his progress on loan at Flamengo.
The Brazilian, who has been on the books at Old Trafford since 2011, has fallen down the pecking order and departed on loan in search of more minutes.
Pereira spent last term with Lazio, but didn’t play regularly with 23 of his 26 Serie A appearances coming from the bench.
This summer, he headed back to his homeland where he has been able to showcase his talents, scoring three times in 13 games.
Solskjaer is keeping tabs on Pereira’s progress and underlined the need for minutes at this point in his career.
Yeah, we follow Andreas, of course we do,” the United boss told TNT Sports .

“He’s a very good player, fantastic person. And I’m so happy for him that he’s enjoying it over there. Because for us, it was the point: ‘Andreas, now you go and show how good you are’.
“I couldn’t give him enough playing time and we know the quality in him. When he has the trust and belief, he’s top quality, so I’m happy for him.”
Bruno Fernandes’ arrival in January 2020 curtailed Pereira’s game time with the Portuguese playmaker quickly establishing himself as the talisman.
Solskjaer is already heavily stocked in attack and struggling to find the winning formula – and that’s without Pereira being in the mix.
Nevertheless the Norwegian claimed he would “see him soon” which suggests a future at Old Trafford still exits.
He added: “You know, at a certain stage of a player’s career, it’s important that you play enough at a high level. Last year, Andreas went on loan, he didn’t play enough.
“The season before, he played a lot for us, but then we signed Bruno. And I’m happy for him now and I’ll see him soon.”
He continued: “Of course (he wants him back). When he keeps on playing like he can do, at his best level, he’s a top player.”

Pereira has also spent loan spells in Italy and Spain since 2016, which has allowed him to turn his hand at several different styles of play.
He confessed earlier this year that foreign football, more so than the Premier League, suited his style.
Pereira told Tuttomercatoweb : “ Premier League, Serie A, and La Liga? They are super leagues.
“The English one is very physical, and as you can see, I don’t have the ideal physique! Joking aside, I loved playing in England; Spanish football is more my style of play.”
