Liverpool’s Anfield losing streak is so long, even Jurgen Klopp has lost count of it!
And when he discovered his team has now gone on a run of six shocking straight league defeats at home, the Reds boss had only one word to describe his amazement…”Wow!!!”
Klopp was in good humour despite the pressure of a massive week which will decide Liverpool ’s season, and when he was asked about the lamentable home form which has derailed their season, his response was light-hearted.
“Now we have a losing streak of what, four games,” he said with a smile, as he tried to recall.
When told it was actually six, he produced a huge grin and a genuine laugh, as he added: “Six games in a row? Wow. Wow! Okay. That’s long. We have to change that!”
Liverpool haven’t won at Anfield since they beat Tottenham 2-1 way back on December 16, and they have lost the last six straight, with some painful defeats to the likes of Fulham, Brighton, Burnley and Everton.
It is their WORST losing run at Anfield in the club’s history, and incredibly, came immediately after their BEST unbeaten league run on the same ground, which stretched to 68 matches, and was only ended by Burnley back in January.
That was the start of their six match losing streak at the famous old stadium, and Klopp knows it is time to change the depressing statistic if they are to get anything from this season, with huge games upcoming against Aston Villa and Real Madrid in the space of the next five days.
Despite their dreadful form the Reds remain just three points off fourth spot, and would no doubt bite your hand off to finish in that position now following a truly remarkable collapse in the league.
