Gary Neville’s five-point plan as he tears into Joel Glazer after Man Utd fans’ forum

Gary Neville has torn into the Glazers on Twitter as he gave his thoughts on the recent fans forum appearance.

Manchester United fans made their voices clear this season after breaking onto the Old Trafford pitch ahead of their match against Liverpool last month.

It has forced their usually-elusive owners into the limelight, with the failed European Super League the last straw for many supporters.

Co-chairman Joel Glazer made an appearance at a fans forum meeting, breaking a near 16-year silence, to discuss the future at the club.

He insisted that there will be more representation for supporters going forward and has made interaction with fans a priority.

The Glazers have come under fire from United fans

After spending nearly three hours giving his views and answering questions, the full minutes will not be published until next week but Glazer revealed it was an eye-opening experience.

“I was pleased to join the fans forum to listen to the views of supporters, address their questions, and share ideas on how we can improve the way we work together,” he said.

“As owners, we want exactly the same thing as the fans – a successful team and a strong club – and we want to work in partnership to achieve those objectives.”

However, United legend Neville is still not satisfied and has conjured up a five-point plan over his complaints.

He tweeted: “My Fans Forum Comments: Should have committed to paying debt down over next 5 years.

“No dividends for 5 years. Minimum yearly investment into team for 5 years.

“Missed an opportunity to show a new OT and Training ground vision.

“More detail on fan share scheme required.”

Neville has been outspoken over his criticism of the owners at United and was praised for his reaction to the protests that were seen at Old Trafford last month.

And while the appearance from Joel Glazer on Friday has been momentous, there is acknowledgement that this is just the beginning.

“We want this club to always be successful and win trophies,” he said. “To compete for trophies requires significant investment.

“The commercial growth at the club has helped deliver the revenue which ultimately underpins that investment in a sustainable manner.

“That approach has allowed us to have among the highest net transfer spend in world football over the last five years and have one of the highest wage bills.

“Also, as a direct result of our commercial business we have kept ticket prices affordable for all fans and not raised season ticket prices in over 10 years.”
