Morata steps in after Ronaldo rest

With a huge Champions League clash coming up this midweek, Cristiano Ronaldo was left out of Juventus’ starting XI for the weekend Serie A match against Lazio.

But, Andrea Pirlo needn’t have worried, as Alvaro Morata (8.3) stepped up to score two of Juve’s three goals to earn his place in the Serie A Team of the Week, with him also assisting the other for Adrien Rabiot.

The best performer of the weekend in Serie A was Lorenzo Insigne (9.4) who was back to his best as Napoli beat Bologna 3-1. He scored the first and third goals in that one with a couple of excellent strikes from outside the box, and would have had a hat-trick if not for a great save from the opposition keeper in the first half.

Making up the front three is Adam Ounas (8.0), who scored one and assisted another for Crotone.

Rodrigo De Paul (8.0), who has been linked with a move to Liverpool this week, won a huge 14 duels for Udinese in the win against Sassuolo and also set up one of the goals.

In the most entertaining game of the weekend, Parma drew 3-3 with Fiorentina, with Jasmin Kurtic (8.2) unlucky not to be on a winning side. He scored one of the three goals for Parma, and also misplaced just one pass during his time on the pitch.

Bryan Cristante (8.0) makes the cut in midfield following his control over proceedings for Roma as he completed 73/79 passes, won the majority of his duels, and made eight ball recoveries.

Alex Sandro (8.2) was actually deployed as a centre-back for Juve this weekend (even if he is at left-back in our formation), but impressed in that role, winning 10/12 duels and having the fifth most touches of any player in the round.

Inter’s march towards the title continued but they had to be at their defensive best to earn a clean sheet against Atalanta. Defenders Alessandro Bastoni (8.4) and Milan Skriniar (8.9) were key to that, with the latter also scoring the winning goal.

Diogo Dalot (7.6) features at right-back following his solid outing for Milan.

It wasn’t a vintage weekend for goalkeepers, as Juan Musso makes the Team of the Week despite a relatively average 6.9 FC Rating.
