Man Utd ‘willing to offer Donny van de Beek’ in summer swap deal

Manchester United are prepared to offer Donny van de Beek in a swap deal for Juventus ‘ Adrien Rabiot, according to reports.

The Dutchman has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford following his summer switch from Ajax.

Opportunities have been few and far between for Van de Beek, who has been forced to play second fiddle to Bruno Fernandes.

The signing raised eyebrows given the form of the Portuguese playmaker and already Van de Beek’s future is in doubt.

Juventus were one of the clubs in for the gifted 23-year-old before his move to Manchester.

Tuttosport claim that United are now ready to offload Van de Beek in an effort to sign Rabiot, who himself has not been in Turin long.

The Frenchman moved to the Bianconeri in 2019 on a free after running down his PSG contract.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to work with the midfielder however and may be prepared to do a trade.

Van de Beek played a starring role for Ajax as they shocked Juventus in the Champions League back in 2019 and they have kept tabs on him.

The United boss has previously defended his sporadic use of the player who cost the club £40m in the summer, but concedes he has struggled with his lack of minutes.

“I wouldn’t say that Donny is happy,” Solskjaer said. “Of course, he wants to play more, but he gets about his job in the right manner.

“We are doing well and have got players who are playing really well in his position.

“He reminds me a lot about myself, when I first came in, that he understands my difficulties and challenges.

“I was the same with Sir Alex [Ferguson, former Man Utd head coach]. When he left me out I understood and I was happy for the team to win – and Donny is that type of guy.

“He knows he is important for us and knows he is going to play many games.”
