JUVE COLLECT A 3-0 WIN OVER BOLOGNA TO KICK START SEASON

All four players that had returned to full fitness were launched from the first minute against Bologna by Massimliano Allegri. Other than Wojciech Szczęsny, Alex Sandro, Adrien Rabiot and Manuel Locatelli back in the starting line-up, so was Arek Milik, asked to link up with Dušan Vlahović and Filip Kostić in attack.

Add it was the front three that found the net as Juve powered to a 3-0 success and a long awaited return to winning ways.

MCKENNIE UNMARKED

The first chance of the match arrived on 13 minutes when a Filip Kostić cross picked out Weston McKennie. The midfielder’s run went unnoticed by the Bologna defence but from an excellent position the US international’s header was straight at Łukasz Skorupski.

The Polish goalkeeper was beaten 11 minutes later, however, after a swift counter attack by the Bianconeri and a first goal in black and white for Kostić.

KOSTIC OFF THE MARK

Arek Milik won back possession on the half-way line with a sliding tackle and set Vlahović off inside the Bologna half. The striker rolled the ball into the path of Kostić, who drilled his low shot across the goal into the corner. The slight deflection off Lorenzo De Silvestri certainly helped deceive Skorupski.

Arek Milik had the chance to add to the advantage five minutes later, but his volley from Alex Sandro’s cross was hit straight at the grateful Bologna goalkeeper.

A QUICK ONE-TWO!

Milik had another chance just five minutes into the second half. This time though he fired his effort over the bar. However, it was a matter of minutes before Juve did add to their lead.

Again it was the end product of another fine counter attack. Milik, Kostić and McKennie linked up to allow Vlahović to head home from close range.

Milik would not be denied a goal of his own, four minutes later. Bologna failed to clear a corner, and when the ball was played back into the penalty area Arek slammed his shot past his fellow Poland international for Juve’s third.

THREE GOALS, THREE POINTS!

In the closing exchanges Juventus came closer to adding to their tally, through Vlahović, Alex Sandro and Juan Cuadrado in particular, while Bologna seldom appeared threatening.

After a September to forget, October kicked off in the best way possible, three goals without reply for three points.
