Cristiano Ronaldo’s Man Utd return is rocked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad policy

Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a Manchester United return as his Juventus future remains uncertain.

The Portuguese star enjoyed a hugely successful six years at Old Trafford and has previously been touted with a move back to Manchester.

But one of the major stumbling blocks to a possible return may be whether Ronaldo would compliment Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s methods and his squad.

The Norwegian has built steadily since being appointed and has been keen to honour the club’s traditions having played under Sir Alex Ferguson.

One of those traditions is to give youth a chance to thrive and develop in the first team.

Solskjaer has been keen to utilise the United academy and has given a host of teenager stars an opportunity.

Mason Greenwood has perhaps been the biggest success story so far but the likes of Brandon Williams, Shola Shoretire, James Garner and Ethan Laird are among 13 academy graduates to be given their debuts by the 48-year-old.

Marcus Rashford is a shining light when it comes to progression from the academy with Solskjaer not lacking for attacking talent.

The Norwegian has spoken about creating a “pathway” and the addition of Ronaldo, who would demand a starting role, could be counterproductive.

“We give them the chance to come to Man United and have a successful career,” said the United boss earlier this year.

“Us a club, we’ve proven over the years that’s something we take seriously and it’s something we are good at.

“We are a club that like to give chances to young players and develop and find a talent.

”Our fans, our history has always been about attacking players, skilful players that you play with no fear. These are players that we have identified to carry that tradition.

“My role is to speak and put a clear pathway for them to say this is what we did.”

Ronaldo’s Juventus side are set to surrender their Serie A title but could yet miss out on Champions League football.

Should they do so the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will look to seek pastures new according to reports.

He is not blessed with a host of potential destinations though. PSG are thought to be keen, but that may change should they retain Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The MLS has also been touted as a possible location for Ronaldo as his careers draws on.
