Barcelona: Another departure confirmed at Barcelona: Neto leaves for Bournemouth on a free transfer

Barcelona have prioritised the departure of their discarded players in recent days and, on Sunday, Bournemouth confirmed the signing of Neto, who arrives at the English club on a free transfer.

That means that Barcelona get rid of the goalkeeper’s wages but does not receive any transfer fee or have to pay compensation.

The goalkeeper was not in the plans of Xavi Hernandez, who has Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Inaki Pena.

Neto, 33, joined the club in the 19/20 season from Valencia, although, despite his quality, he never won the battle for a starting role with Ter Stegen.

The Brazilian made just 21 appearances for the Catalan club in all competitions over the last three seasons.

The Brazilian goalkeeper, who has not been training with Barcelona since last Friday because he had permission to close his departure and was not called up for the Gamper, is now heading to England.

He has reached an agreement with Bournemouth, recently promoted to the Premier League.

In addition to LaLiga Santander, Neto also played in Serie A where he played for Fiorentina and Juventus.

Remodelling the squad

In the last few days, in addition to Neto, Oscar Mingueza and Riqui Puig have also ended their time with Barcelona.

Xavi is restructuring the dressing room and the Brazilian was already on the transfer list in the last transfer window.

However, the Catalan institution still has to deal with the departures of Martin Braithwaite and Samuel Umtiti, among others.
