Allegri: “It will be a beautiful evening”

A big match awaits the Bianconeri tomorrow evening at the Stadio San Siro, where Juventus will take on Inter in the Derby d’Italia. Ahead of the highly-anticipated clash, Massimiliano Allegri spoke to the media about the game.

Here’s what he had to say:

I haven’t decided on the line-up yet, we had a good training session yesterday, but maybe I’ll decide tomorrow morning. It will be a beautiful evening, there will be many spectators and a great atmosphere. There are many expectations from us, from Inter and from the fans. In my opinion, Inter is still the favourite for the Scudetto: it will be an important test. It won’t be a decisive match, but winning would allow us to extend the positive streak and take a leap forward.

There is no tension, there is only the right expectation of playing a great match. It will have to be a beautiful evening, we hope to secure a positive result. It will be exciting for me, it’s nice to experience these matches. Tomorrow, we will have to play well technically. Inter are strong: we need clarity and a desire to fight. Dzeko is a player who knows how to play football, and he pairs well with Lautaro. But Inter have many excellent individuals, which is why I think they are still the strongest in the league.

Dybala will be available, he’s fine, he has done two training sessions with the team. We are nearly complete, and it is important – from here to the international break – that everyone will be needed. In defence, everyone is fine. De Ligt will also be able to learn to play on the right, it will be a step to take. I will see Rabiot today, he tested negative, but I have to see how he is. Arthur raises the quality of the team; he is very useful. He has to get back into form. Slowly his playing time will increase and then he will become a starter.

With Ronaldo having left, everyone has more responsibilities, and we must seek this goal with all the players we have. Everyone gives the contribution they have to give: that is to be available and help their teammates. Whoever is on the bench must have the right mind, even when he comes on during the match.

In football, you have to know how to stop, pass and unmark. We occasionally get one of these three things wrong in certain situations, not for technical reasons, but because of attention. I always tell the guys that they have to work in order not to miss a single ball.
