Now even Tottenham’s SPONSORS are piling into them! Spurs’ new partners Dulux mock ‘unused trophy cabinet’ and criticise players in now-deleted tweets, posted minutes after deal was announced!

  • In a now-deleted series of tweets Dulux’s official account took aim at Spurs’ stars

Tottenham have been left red-faced after their brand new commercial partners Dulux mocked them on Twitter minutes after a deal was announced on Thursday morning.

The north London club took to Twitter to proudly reveal that the British paint company has become their official supplier, only for Dulux’s official Twitter account to mercilessly make fun of their lack of trophies with fans soon after.

In a now-deleted tweet, Dulux responded to a fan’s joke about storing paint cans in the club’s trophy room because Spurs ‘don’t seem to put anything else in there’.

Another fan joined in by suggesting to ‘paint the dusty trophy cabinet’, which Dulux once again responded to by saying: ‘Don’t be silly, surfaces should be dust free before painting.’

Fans began to pile in on the joke with another asking if the Dulux’s iconic Old English Sheepdog mascot could play at centre back, which Dulux replied: ‘He might do a better job [than some of the defenders].’

Soon after mocking their new commercial partners, Dulux deleted the offending tweets, seeing their relationship with the Premier League side get off to the worst possible start.

It is embarrassing saga for Tottenham, who have not won any silverware in over 13 years – with their last trophy coming in 2008 when they beat Chelsea to win the Carling Cup.

The club’s barren run has also seen star players linked with moves away from White Hart Lane, with Harry Kane linked with the exit at Spurs should they fail to win the Carabao Cup this month or qualify for the Champions League come the end of the season.

Dulux’s outburst was followed up by Spurs fans and rival supporters to join in on the joke, with many pointing out that they can ‘now watch paint dry’ instead of Jose Mourinho’s men, who have been criticised this season for the defensive-style of football.

Another Twitter user provided a mockup of the Dulux dog sat alongside a list of dejected Spurs players, saying that the animal has ‘got to be worth a try in defence’.

Tottenham are currently in a bad run of form and have seen their chances of qualifying for Europe’s elite competition next season take a massive hit after dropping points in back-to-back games against Newcastle and Manchester United.

Failure to win the Carabao Cup and secure European football next season will see the Special One sacked, as reported by Sportsmail.

As a result, Spurs have been linked with a number of different managers to replace Mourinho, with Maurizio Sarri, Nuno Espirito Santo and Julian Nagelsmann all on the club’s managerial wishlist should they part ways with Mourinho.

Spurs are currently seventh in the table and are six points adrift of rivals West Ham in fourth.
