After comfortably beating Cadiz 3-0 on Wednesday night, Real Madrid players returned to training in Valdebebas on Thursday morning.
Those who started against the Andalusian side took to the pitch before working out in the gym, while Sergio Ramos has taken another important step in his recovery process.
The Real Madrid captain is going through the last phase of his recovery as when he was diagnosed with a calf injury back on April 1, the club’s medical staff estimated his return to take place after one month.
Meanwhile, neither Toni Kroos nor Luka Modric trained with the rest of their teammates on Thursday as Zinedine Zidane aims to have them back for next week’s match against Chelsea.
The German midfielder has some adductor discomfort after being forced to withdraw from his international duties back in March and has not played in the last two games against Getafe and Cadiz.
On his part, Modric has suffered a back strain that ruled him out of Wednesday’s duel with Cadiz as Zidane was not willing to take any risks.
Both Ramos and Lucas Vazquez will be sidelined for the Champions League tie with Chelsea and it remains to be seen whether Ferland Mendy, who also worked in the gym on Thursday, could make it in time for next Tuesday’s match against the Premier League side at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.
