Liverpool transfer round-up: Raphinha latest as two players in line for new contracts

As well as further activity in the transfer market, Liverpool will want to make sure that they maintain continuity in the coming months.

The Reds may be in the midst of a squad rebuild, but it’s little use making new additions to the team if core components go missing in the process.

While they have already made their first signing of the summer in the form of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, they are also looking to secure new deals for their best players.

That means that some of their most important business could be done in-house, with several of Jurgen Klopp’s most influential performers set to make decisions on their future.

Nonetheless, there’s no shortage of players rumoured to be on their way to Anfield.

Here’s Friday’s Liverpool transfer round-up with all the latest developments.

No contact with Leeds over Raphinha

Raphinha has been persistently linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, but the Yorkshire Evening Post reports that the Reds have not enquired about his availability.

Despite rumours of a £32m bid, there has been no official contact between the two clubs to date.

Raphinha is under contract until 2024, which would allow Leeds to hold out for a huge fee were another club to make an approach.

Signed from Rennes last October for £17m, Raphinha was one of Marcelo Bielsa’s standout performers last term. Leeds are adamant that they want to keep him at Elland Road, with Director of Football Victor Orta telling One Football: “Raphinha is a special case.

“He has been brilliant from the moment he touched this club… hopefully, this is the beginning of something beautiful.”

Alisson contract talks scheduled

Liverpool are planning to open contract talks with Alisson when he returns from international duty with Brazil this summer.

The BBC reports that Alisson is one of several players who are set for contract negotiations in the coming months.

Having signed from Roma for £66.8m back in 2018, he was briefly the most expensive goalkeeper in history before Chelsea signed Kepa Arrizabalaga for £71.6m soon afterwards.

Alisson’s current deal runs until 2024 but, given that he is one of the world’s most coveted goalkeepers, the Reds want to tie him down on new terms.

He is currently preparing for the Copa America, which will now take place in his home country after Colombia and then Argentina were stripped of their hosting rights.

Liverpool target Joaquin Correa in high demand

Lazio forward Joaquin Correa has attracted interest from across Europe this summer, with Liverpool said to be among his admirers.

They may have to fend off several Premier League rivals, however, with the Argentina international in high demand.

According to Italy24News, Everton and West Ham have already made enquiries about him. Lazio have also received a €30m (£25.8m) offer from an unnamed club, which they are considering.

Maurizio Sarri has been tipped to take over at Lazio and reportedly wants to bring in five new players, which could see Correa sacrificed in order to raise funds.

Sarri would be happy for him to stay, however, which could see Manuel Lazzari move on instead.
