Chelsea registered an emphatic 7-0 win over Norwich on Saturday at Stamford Bridge in a game which saw Mount score three goals, having scored none in his previous seven games.

Mount opened the scoring for the Blues, before goals from Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James ensured Chelsea went into half-time with a healthy three-goal lead.

Ben Chilwell made it four twelve minutes into the second-half and a Max Aarons own goal then gifted Chelsea their fifth.

Mount rounded the victory off in style late on with his second from the penalty spot, before the 22-year-old netted his third in stoppage time to inflict further pain on Daniel Farke’s side.

And Cole could not help gushing about the midfielder’s display at Stamford Bridge after ending his long run without a goal.

Speaking on BT Sport, Cole said: “He does [get credit] from people in the game.

“I’ve never met one ex-player or one coach who doesn’t appreciate him.

“He’s a top, top outstanding player, he’s becoming one of the most important players in the country.

“But there’s an unusual level of fans – I don’t know if it’s rival fans or whatever – who don’t quite get it.

“You want to sit them down in front of a touchscreen and educate them and show them that what this kid does is unbelievable.”

Meanwhile, Tuchel said it’s important that attacking players score goals to give them a confidence boost, while he thinks Mount’s goals were a long time coming.

“It was good, no matter what the coach says and how many good opportunities you have and how satisfied the coach is, the offensive guys need goals to feel fully happy and the full confidence, this will happen a lot,” Tuchel said.

TV pundit Joe Cole heaped praise on Mount following his performance

“He waited long, too long, and it was good that he got some goals today.”

The Blues boss also challenged Chelsea to continue their free-scoring form, having run riot without the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner.

“Maybe we found a bit of the spirit to have higher ball recoveries, maybe higher frequency of attacks and touches in the box and more bodies around the box makes things a bit easier,” Tuchel said.

“I don’t want to get carried away too much. We’ve played four times in a row as favourites and I like the humble approach and approach we set our own standards.

Thomas Tuchel also commended Mount’s performance

“We push ourselves and play all in – this is the most important and anything is possible.

“If you have a bit of luck and have more chances you get more confident – we are capable of scoring four or seven goals which is good. There will be other closer games and [we must] be prepared for that when it arrives.”

The result means Chelsea remain top of the Premier League with 22 points, two ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who beat Brighton 4-1 at The Amex Stadium on Saturday.
