Borussia Dortmund

New additions to the U23s

Ingo Preuß is a busy man at the moment. After securing promotion to the 3rd division, the sporting director of Borussia Dortmund’s U23s has to replace departing players and strengthen the team in key areas.

In Leon Klußmann, Albin Thaqi, Kamal Bafounta and Maik Amedick, four talents from Dortmund’s own U19s are coming up to join the U23s. With Marco Pasalic from VfB Stuttgart’s U23s, Ted Tattermusch from SV Meppen, Timo Bornemann from Fortuna Düsseldorf’s U23 and Berkan Taz from SC Verl, Preuß has already been able to secure plenty of young talent for BVB.

Now Antonios Papadopoulos is also joining the Black and Yellows’ second team on a free transfer from Halleschen FC. “Toni” came through the VfR Aalen youth team and made 35 appearances (three goals) for HFC in the 3rd division last season. “I can’t wait to wear the Black and Yellow shirt and I’m looking forward to playing in front of fans in the full Rote Erde stadium again,” says the 21-year-old. Ingo Preuß is pleased to sign a regular from the 3rd division who has already played 71 games in the professional leagues and thus brings important experience with him.

The defensive midfielder will add extra strength in an important position, joining Marco Hober and Franz Pfanne, who have recently signed new contracts.
