Man Utd transfer round-up: Jadon Sancho finally signs, Eduardo Camavinga stance

Manchester United are keen to build on their progress from last season, having finished second in the Premier League and reached the final of the Europa League.

The Red Devils are yet to win a trophy under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but there has been a steady level of improvement under the 48-year-old.

Speaking back in May, Solskjaer admitted the club needed to strengthen in the transfer market in order to continue their progression.

“I hope that we’re going to strengthen with a few,” he said. “Two or three players that we definitely need to challenge higher up in the table, because we’re still too far behind to think it’s just going to come by itself.

“We’re looking at the squad, the players who are going to stay and those who might be leaving.”

United have been linked with a number of potential incomings and outgoings this summer and, with that in mind, here is the latest transfer news from Old Trafford.

Sancho deal finally complete

Manchester United have finally sealed the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in a £72.9m deal.

United announced on July 1 that they had agreed a deal in principle with Dortmund to sign Sancho and, 22 days later, the transfer has now been officially completed.

Sancho has put pen to paper on a five-year deal, saying: “I’ll always be grateful to Dortmund for giving me the opportunity to play first team football, although I always knew that I would return to England one day.

“The chance to join Manchester United is a dream come true and I just cannot wait to perform in the Premier League.

“This is a young and exciting squad and I know, together, we can develop into something special to bring the success that the fans deserve.

“I am looking forward to working with the Manager and his coaching team to further develop my game.”

Camavinga stance

United have been heavily linked with a move for teenage midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer.

The 18-year-old is out of contract next summer and it has been reported that he will not be signing an extension with Rennes.

As a result, the Ligue 1 side are keen to cash in on him this summer.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Camavinga would prefer a move to La Liga.

Real Madrid have a long-term interest in the youngster and the report states that United’s initial discussions with Camavinga’s representatives were ‘not encouraging’.

Wijnaldum urges Pogba to join PSG

Paul Pogba is a target for Paris Saint-Germain this summer and Georginio Wijnaldum, who recently completed a move to the Parc des Princes, has stated that he would love the opportunity to play alongside Pogba.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Wijnaldum said: “I would love to have Pogba with us. He’s fantastic. I have played against him several times – what a player!

“If you ask any player from another team if he would like Pogba to join him, everyone will say yes because he is an extraordinary player, full of qualities. He has it all, one of the best midfielders in the world.”
