The England international looked set to be United’s marquee signing of the summer, after he was signed for £73million from Borussia Dortmund.

Cristiano Ronaldo ’s arrival overshadowed that deal and the 36-year-old has also outshone him on the pitch, scoring three times in his first two starts.

Sancho meanwhile, is without a goal or an assist and has thus far failed to have the kind of impact many had hoped for.

But there are no signs of panic from Solskjaer, who has no regrets over forking out a massive fee to land him.

“Jadon is learning all the time. In training as well, he is learning our training methods,” Solskjaer explained.

“He is learning the Premier League. Of course, he knows the Champions League from his time at Dortmund.

“He is a young boy, he is only 21, and he will only improve.

He added: “We signed him because we see a top forward for 10, 12, 15 years – and I have not changed my mind about him on that.

“He is so clean on the ball and he has got the enthusiasm to learn – and that is a big thing when you come to Man United.

“Coming here, you are always going to get a chance, playing with some of the best players in the world, and getting some fantastic coaching with the coaches I’ve got.”

Sancho is part of the Red Devils squad which set off for West Ham on Saturday afternoon. Solskjaer’s squad caught a flight to London knowing a win in the capital would see them go level on points with Liverpool at the top of the table.

Scott McTominay is also a part of the travelling party, with the Scotland international having recovered from the surgery he had on a groin issue.

Marcus Rashford has also stepped up his recovery from shoulder surgery, but isn’t expected to return for another few weeks.

Paul Pogba will also feature, despite the Frenchman’s agent once again stoking speculation that he could leave Old Trafford.

The midfielder has a year left on his contract and Mino Raiola recently discussed his client’s future.

“Paul Pogba is out of contract in June, so we’ll talk with Man United and we’ll see what happens,” he told Rai Sport.

” Juventus? Paul still loves Turin. There’s a chance that Pogba will return to Juventus, yes – but it also depends on Juventus plans”.

It promises to be a tough encounter for Solskjaer’s side however, David Moyes has West Ham purring and are coming off the back of an impressive win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League.
