Manchester United want a new midfielder this summer after spending big on Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho last year, and £40m Youri Tielemans fits the bill
Youri Tielemans has emerged as a summer target of Manchester United.
And the fallen giants are growing increasingly confident they can land the Belgium and Leicester City midfielder in a £40million deal.
United are considering turning to Tielemans as they look to sign a world-class midfielder ahead of the start of next season.
The fallen giants were expected to do this last summer, but chose to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo instead as well as luring Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in a £73m deal.
But the decision has proved to be a mistake, with United finding themselves out of the title race once again this time round.

New CEO Richard Arnold has made signing a high-class midfielder one of his main priorities.
United have have been monitoring the situations regarding Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips.
But United fear Rice will prove too expensive, with West Ham valuing him in excess of £100m, while Leeds favourite Phillips is poised to sign a new contract at Elland Road.
Leeds born Phillips has also made it clear he doesn’t want to join United, due to the fierce hatred that exists between the two clubs.
It means United could now turn their attentions to Leicester’s Tielemans as a viable alternative.
The 24-year-old’s contract with the Foxes runs until the summer of 2023 and with Brandan Rodgers promising to shake-up his squad this summer, United know the Midlands club could be forced to cash in on one of their prize assets at the end of this season.

Tielemans, who is also a target of Juventus, is desperate to be involved in the Champions League and knows he is unlikely to achieve this with Rodgers’s side.
United have a strong relationship with the Foxes, having signed Harry Maguire in a £80m deal in 2019, and believe a deal can be done in the region of £40m.
Tielemans, who scored a stunning goal to help the Foxes win the FA Cup last season, joined the Foxes from Monaco in 2019 and has gone on to score 17 goals and register 16 assists in the Premier League in 104 appearances for City.
He has won 47 Belgium caps and helped Roberto Martinez’s men reach the World Cup semi finals in 2018.
