Gary Neville has slammed the drawn-out Jadon Sancho to Manchester United deal – claiming he has ‘never been more bored’ of a transfer in his life.
United are finally closing in on a summer move for Sancho after months of negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.
The Mirror understands the Red Devils are close to an £80m agreement to sign the England star after talks between United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and Dortmund counterpart Hans Joachim-Watzke.
Sancho is set to sign for a fee of around £75m – plus an extra £5m in add-ons after being made Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s prime summer target.
Who should Manchester United sign after Sancho? Let us know in the comments below
United tried to sign Sancho last summer before baulking at Dortmund’s £110m asking price for the winger.
However, Dortmund require the funds this time round and have therefore reduced their price tag, meaning United can afford the switch.
The 21-year-old will be handed a five-year-deal at Old Trafford and will earn around £250,000-per-week.
Sancho’s nearing move is exciting for supporters who are keen to see Solskjaer bolster his squad as the Red Devils aim to complete for the Premier League title ahead of the upcoming campaign.
But the protracted nature of the deal has frustrated many, including club great Gary Neville.
Neville does not blame Sancho in regards to the delayed move but is more interested in who United will sign next.
“Manchester United Closing in on Sancho Again!,” he tweeted.
“A transfer should be a joy and a moment of excitement . I’ve never been more bored by a transfer in my life to the point I feel like he’s already signed and I want to know who is next already.
“Not the lads fault at all I should say!”
United’s next transfer after Sancho could come in the shape of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
The Mirror understands that Varane could leave Madrid this summer after rejecting a two-year deal to extend his stay with Los Blancos.
And United are main candidates in the chase to sign the 28-year-old World Cup winner.
Solskjaer could sign a central defender this summer to partner Harry Maguire and Varane is seen as a desirable option.
However, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed the club are yet to receive an offer for Varane.
“I read news in the newspapers [about Varane leaving] and I don’t know anything,” Perez told El Transistor.
“We have not spoken with him yet, he is at the European Championship. He still has one year left on his contract. And we have not received any offers for Varane.
“He is a gentleman, if he wants to stay, he will stay and, if not, he will leave.”
