BVB to play in special shirt to promote diversity in football

The Borussia Dortmund players will wear a special shirt for their away game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday evening to make a clear statement in favour of diversity.

Fans, clubs and associations have been campaigning for many years against homophobia and transphobia, and for more visibility when it comes to sexual and gender diversity in football – as have BVB and the gay and lesbian fan club “Rainbow Borussen”, an integral part of the South Stand community. Nevertheless, gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans*, inter* and non-binary people are still met with discrimination and exclusion. Reason enough to tackle this matter more intensively.

To send a clear message in favour of more diversity, the team will wear a special shirt for the clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach at 20:30 CET. Partners 1&1, GLS, Adesso and Signal Iduna are teaming up with BVB to promote diversity and tolerance, and will have their logos displayed in rainbow colours on the home shirt. The captain’s armband will be in rainbow colours too.

Following a two-year corona enforced break, the BVB Day of Action will once again take place at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK this year on 19/11. This year, the motto will be: “SchwarzBuntGelb – For more diversity in football. Against LGBTIQ*-phobia.”

Here you will find all the information on the programme and the schedule for the day.
