Real Madrid want to renew Lucas Vazquez‘s contract. The Spanish champions have presented the player with a new offer that is much improved on the one put to him before his season-ending injury.
The versatile Galician has become indispensable for Zinedine Zidane this season, playing in a number of positions but most impressively at right-back in Dani Carvajal‘s absence.
Lucas‘ current contract ends on June 30, and he had looked likely to walk away from Valdebebas at the end of the 2020/21 season, with Bayern Munich interested in his services. Now, though, the chances of him staying with Los Blancos are better than they have been for some time.
Real Madrid are now willing to reward the player’s commitment and constantly excellent performances, knowing that they would need to fill a considerable void in the squad were he to leave.
The club know that putting their faith in Carvajal and Alvaro Odriozola next season would be a risk, with the former suffering a lot of injury problems this season and the latter not being a player who has earned Zidane‘s trust.
