Real Madrid – La Liga: Maximum stress for Real Madrid: 12 days that will make or break their season

The next 12 days are set to be pivotal in Real Madrid‘s season, with much to be decided between now and April 12.

This period will decide whether they’re still in the fight for the LaLiga title, If they’re in the semi finals of the Champions League and whether Florentino Perez will continue as president of the club.

Decisive matches between April 6 and 14

Real Madrid’s league duties will resume against Eibar but the big match is on Tueaday when they welcome Liverpool to the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

European glory seemed unlikely back in December, but things have turned around and many in the camp feel that Liverpool, Chelsea and Porto are all sides they can turn over.

There is also the complication of having a Clasico sandwiched between both legs against Liverpool, which is a situation that caused problems in the 2011-12 season when Jose Mourinho’s side lost in the Camp Nou and then struggled in the return leg against Bayern Munich.

Is Zidane’s job in danger?

A few months ago, Real Madrid’s season seemed doomed for failure, but Zinedine Zidane has overseen a huge change in fortunes at the club.

Despite the fact they’re now fighting for LaLiga and the Champions League, Zidane knows that the only thing that counts at the Bernabeu is winning, and if this season ends trophy less, he could find himself without a job.

He’ll take confidence from the fact that his side have always turned up on the big occasions this season.

Ramos missing at crucial time

Sergio Ramos picked up an injury with the national team and will therefore miss the knockout ties against Liverpool.

In recent years, Real Madrid haven’t ever progressed in the latter stages of European competition without Ramos, and were eliminated in 2019 and 2020 when he was absent from the side.

Will there be elections?

On April 14, the day of the second leg against Liverpool, we will find out if there will be presidential elections at the Bernabeu and discover if there are any candidates apart from Florentino Perez.

There isn’t much reason to think that there will be a change in the Madrid hotseat, however, and Perez seems set to oversee what is set to be a crucial few months in the future of Los Blancos.
