“He is expected to be out of action for three weeks.”

Despite a vital win at the Stade de la Mosson to go five points clear at the top of the table, Mbappe endured a difficult night culminating in his withdrawal after just 21 minutes.

Handed the opportunity to add to his 13 league goals so far in the campaign from the penalty spot after just 10 minutes, Mbappe saw his effort saved by Benjamin Lecomte.

However, after it was adjudged that the Montpellier stopper had moved off his line early, the penalty was ordered to be retaken but Mbappe was again denied when the keeper tipped his strike round the post.

Ultimately, second half goals from Fabian Ruiz, Lionel Messi and 16-year-old Warren Zaire-Emery were enough to secure the win, but manager Christophe Galtier will now be left sweating on the fitness of one of his star men.
